The Spices Board announced on Friday that it is holding a special gigantic single-day cardamom auction on Sunday, September 26, as part of the 75-week program titled “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to commemorate independence celebrations of the 75th anniversary.
The online auction will bring together the spice community allowing spice producers to connect with spice traders nationwide to participate in this largest online cardamom auction.
“This is a special electronic auction apart from the regular electronic auction scheduled to facilitate the electronic auction of 75,000 kg of small cardamom to commemorate the glorious 75 years of independence,” said D Sathiyan IFS, Secretary, Spices Board.
“This auction will help the community of spice producers by giving them an additional opportunity to sell their products, in addition to increasing competitiveness leading to an increase in the price of their products,” added the secretary of the Spices Board.
The electronic auction is to take place at the Council’s electronic auction center in Puttady in Idukki.
The online auction is being held in unison with Vanijya Saptah, a series of events focused on economic growth and export promotion by the Department of Commerce and the Spice Council. A large number of exporters, the trading community are expected to take part in this gigantic cardamom auction.
The e-auction will start in the morning and end on the same day.
