6 dead, 28 injured in Chicago weekend shootings

CHICAGO (UKTN) – At least two people have died and 28 others are injured following shootings in Chicago over the weekend. Two of the victims are under the age of 18.

In the first shooting of the weekend, a 30-year-old man was sitting on the front porch of a residence Friday night in the 8400 block of South Bennett at around 8:28 p.m. when shots were fired by an unknown person.

The victim was transported by firefighters to University of Chicago Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was pronounced dead.

A 17-year-old girl was shot dead while riding in a rideshare vehicle on Friday evening.

Police say at approximately 9:47 p.m., the girl was a passenger in the vehicle when shots were fired by an occupant of an SUV, on the 8800 block of South Mackinaw.

The victim was transported to the U of C in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. No other injuries were reported.

Officers found three men shot dead in the Humboldt Park neighborhood Friday night.

Police said officers responded to a lookout in the 800 block of Central Park Avenue at around 8:56 p.m. where they discovered three men who had been shot.

The age and condition of the men are unknown.

A 22-year-old man was shot while inside a vehicle in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood, police say.

The victim was in a vehicle in the 2300 block of West Harrison at approximately 11:47 p.m. when a red car approached and someone from inside the vehicle began shooting at the victim.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the lower back and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Five people were injured in a mass shooting in Lake Meadows on Friday just before midnight, police said.

At approximately 11.45pm a group of individuals were standing outside an open car park in the 3000 block of South Rhodes when an unknown offender began shooting at the group.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the left chin.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the right leg and

An 18-year-old woman was shot in the right leg. All three were taken to University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the right forearm and transported to Mercy Hospital in good condition.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the right leg and was transported to Mercy Hospital in good condition.

In other shoots from Friday 5 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.:

· At 1:33 a.m. Saturday, in the 4700 block of South Ellis, an 18-year-old woman was in a vehicle with a known man who, after an argument, pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. The victim was hit in the left hand, she immediately got out of the vehicle and the attacker left. The victim was transported to the U of C hospital in good condition.

· At 2:10 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of North Washtenaw, a 21-year-old man was standing outside when a silver sedan approached and an unknown man fired. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the pelvic area and was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

· At 4.35am on Saturday in the 2100 block of West Maypole, a 29-year-old man was sitting outside his residence when an unknown man approached and began shooting at the victim, then fled. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper left leg and was transported by CFD to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

· At 3:20 a.m. Saturday, in the 7200 block of South Eberhart, two victims were passengers in a vehicle when a white sedan approached, and an unknown man fired the shots. A 22-year-old man was shot in both legs and a woman of unknown age suffered two gunshot wounds to the left thigh. The two victims were then taken to the U of C hospital in good condition by the driver of said vehicle.

· At 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of western Illinois, a 21-year-old woman was shot in both legs while sitting in a parked vehicle. An unknown man endorsed the vehicle from the driver’s side and displayed a weapon. The adult driver began to drive the car and, while turning around, the assailant began to fire shots in the direction of the victim. The victim was self transported to Northwestern Hospital and was last listed in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

· At 11:26 a.m. Saturday, in the 6700 block of South Western, a man, 35, was shot and injured in the thigh. The victim argued with a stranger who then fired shots, hitting the victim. The victim was transported to Christ Hospital in good condition. The assailant fled.

At 1 p.m. Saturday in the 4400 block of West Chicago, a 22-year-old man was inside a vehicle when he was struck in the arm and was transported to West Suburban Hospital initially reported undamaged .

· At 2:05 p.m. Saturday, in the 800 block of East 130th Place, a 36-year-old man was in a parking lot when an unknown person approached, drew a gun and shot the victim. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot and was transported to Roseland Hospital in good condition.

· At 8:48 p.m. Saturday in the 5700 block of South Paulina, two men, ages 40 and 58, were standing outside when they heard multiple gunshots and felt pain. The 40-year-old victim was shot in the back and transported to the University of Chicago in critical condition. The second victim, 58, was punched once in the buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he is listed in fair condition. A third victim, a 39-year-old woman, was hit by gunfire in the 5600 block of South Marshfield immediately after the two men were hit. The preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was shot by the same assailant. The woman was transported to the U of C with a gunshot wound to the stomach and is listed in fair condition.

At 10:20 p.m., in the 7600 block of South State Street, a 35-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when another 24-year-old woman seated in the back discharged a gun from fist. The victim was transported to Jackson Park Hospital in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the right arm.

· At 11:39 p.m. Saturday, in the 5000 block of West 44th Street, a 39-year-old man was discovered on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest. The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in acceptable condition. No other details are available.

· At 11:33 p.m., in the 3500 block of West 83rd Street, two men, ages 22 and 26, were standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired. The 22-year-old victim was transported to Christ in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg. The second victim, 26, was dropped off at Holy Cross and transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition with gunshot wounds to his left arm and body.

· At 1:29 a.m. Sunday in the 7400 block of South Princeton, a 22-year-old woman was sitting in the backseat of a parked vehicle when shots were fired. The victim was transported to the U of C by the CFD in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the back.

· At 2:01 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of North Homan, a 28-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when she heard gunshots and felt pain. The victim was transported to Humboldt Health and transferred to Stroger Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

· At 2:57 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of South Saint Louis, a 24-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle when an unknown man approached on foot and fired shots. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital by the CFD in fair condition with gunshot wounds to the right arm.

· At 2:32 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North Lawler, a 48-year-old man was discovered on the street with gunshot wounds to his back and chest. The victim was dropped off at West Suburban Hospital and transferred to Stroger in critical condition.

· At 3:36 a.m., in the 700 block of West 73rd Street, a 40-year-old man was discovered on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the head and body. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai in critical condition and later pronounced dead. No other details are available.

· At 3:56 a.m. Sunday in the 7100 block of South Yates, a 23-year-old was shot and injured in the right upper leg in a domestic incident and was transported to the University of Chicago undamaged. The assailant is in custody and no other injuries have been reported.
