American woman killed parents with chainsaw, body parts found in garbage cans: police


The police have not yet found a motive for the gruesome murder.

A woman has been arrested in the United States in connection with the brutal murder of both her parents, according to a report in NBC news. Forty-nine-year-old Verity Beck has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree murder and other crimes. Police said she dismembered the bodies of her parents – Reid Beck and Miriam Beck – with a chainsaw. Beck was brought before a local Pennsylvania court and ordered to be held without bail, the outlet said in its report.

Police have yet to find a motive for the grisly murder, but investigators found a safe where someone appeared to have tried to break into, NBC news quoted Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.

The crime took place in Abington, a town near Philadelphia, and came to light after a police officer visited the Beck home. They visited the spot after a family member said that the couple had not been heard from for over a week, the outlet said.

Their bodies were found in the house, police said.

CBSPhiladelphia said an autopsy showed both her parents had been shot in the head once.

“There were signs of extreme trauma and I can tell you the chainsaw was found. Both Reid and Miriam were found in various stages of mutilation, which was one of the reasons it took us so long today, because these were not easy autopsies to perform,” it quoted Mr Steele.

“This is someone discrediting her mother and father and putting body parts in trash cans, so she’s obviously trying to get rid of the evidence,” he added.

Justin, brother of Verity Beck, told the news outlet that he believes his parents were killed on Jan. 7 — the day he last spoke to them.

Police said they found three handguns and a chainsaw in the house. Two of these guns were registered to Verity Beck.
