It’s been almost three years to the day since the Atlanta Season 2 finale.

And after scheduling conflicts, production, delays, and even a global pandemic, the next season of the beloved series finally appears to be underway.

Donald Glover took to Instagram on Friday to confirm Atlanta Season 3 is in production.

The 37-year-old actor posted a screenshot of himself with the three other members of the main cast of the series: Lakeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry.

He captioned the image to his 3.8 million fans: “’Day 0′ S3 ATL.

It comes after several delays, as the third season was originally announced on June 18 and slated to premiere in 2019.

However, due to scheduling conflicts including Glover starring in the live-action, the Lion King remake production had been delayed even further.

In August 2019, even with zero of Season 3 filmed, FX renewed the drama series for a fourth season.

They also announced that seasons 3 and 4 will be filmed in early 2020, each consisting of eight episodes each.

In January 2020, the number of episodes for Season 3 was increased to ten and would be released in January 2021 with the Season 4 premiere later that year.

However, production was again delayed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Glover’s post says production on the series has started, with the filming locations being London, Amsterdam and Paris.

The series is one of the most critically acclaimed of recent years, winning the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2017.

Glover was also recognized individually because he also won the best performance by an actor in a television series – musical or comedy that year.
