DAN HOFFMAN: And what we’ve seen is a extremely aggressive, asymmetric response. Look at the military exercises that started yesterday, which effectively blocked Taiwan until Sunday. That’s a pretty extreme measure. But I think what China is trying to do, they know that the United States will continue their relationship with Taiwan. They try deliver a grim messageAlso an obvious one, for those countries in the region and beyond, the cost of a relationship with Taiwan is just too high and they shouldn’t be doing it. China is trying to completely isolate Taiwan and this government, I agree with Senator Brown, needs to push back with a real strategy to prevent that.
