“Jesus is depicted as multiple ethnicities to counter the Anglo-centric story of ‘white Jesus’, and flowing water flows between the panels to center the designs in the seaport city of Bristol,” she added.

Ms Swift said her design draws on Bristol’s “deep and complex history, from past atrocities to contemporary concerns, to remind us of our neighbors’ journeys and how we came together at this time, looking ahead to way to a shared future”.

She was unable to attend the unveiling of her design while undergoing surgery but was delighted to hear she was the winner, but told the South West News Service, “I am very honored that my design was chosen for this beautiful space that means so much to me.”
