Clubhouse is finally testing its Android application in beta with a number of testers. Meanwhile, the audio by-invite social media platform announced some changes and improvements to its iOS app. Clubhouse launched in April 2020 as an exclusive iOS app and has grown in popularity since then. It now faces competition from Discord’s Stage Channel, Instagram Live Rooms, Reddit Talk, Telegram Voice Chats 2.0 and Twitter Spaces. Facebook and LinkedIn are working on publishing their own alternatives, and Mark Cuban’s Fireside audio chat and podcasting app is also set to launch soon.

The beta version of Clubhouse for Android and improvements to its iOS app were announced in a press release. IOS users are also notified of new announcements via an in-app banner. Clubhouse has not set a date for the release of its Android app, but since it rolled out a beta, a stable version of the app is expected to launch soon. “We look forward to welcoming more Android users to the Clubhouse in the coming weeks,” the press release notes.

For its iOS app, Clubhouse adds a prompt that will notify club hosts when new members join the room and stay for a period of time. Moreover, the app has also improved notifications and suggested in the app. Support for VoiceOver accessibility has also been improved, which will make it easier for users to identify who is speaking by double-tapping the screen or using the “Magic Tap” gesture.

Previously, Clubhouse announced that it would launch a monetization feature for its creators on the platform and not take it away. The app will allow users to send money to creators – those who have the feature enabled – by tapping on the Send Money option. Discord Stage Channel, Instagram Live Rooms, Reddit Talk, Telegram Voice Chats 2.0, and Twitter Spaces have previously been released as alternatives to the successful audio-only social media platform.
