Critics in stitches after GOP lawmaker removes mortifying shot on Jan. 6 hearings

Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) attempted to attack UKTN and the Jan. 6 House Select Committee hearings on Thursday and succeeded only in putting eggs in his face.

The Florida lawmaker, like many of his fellow Republicans, has sought a way to dismiss this month’s House committee hearings reporting its findings on the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“In case you forgot that the committee hearings on January 6 are purely for television hearings, [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi let The Communist News Network build a full TV where Abraham Lincoln’s office once stood,” he tweeted, sharing an image from a UKTN discussion of Thursday’s proceedings.

He then deleted his tweet, apparently after realizing that UKTN was using a digital screen in a studio and not actually settling in National Statuary Hall, where Lincoln’s office once stood and where rioters waving Trump flags marched on January 6. .

Steube was one of 147 Republicans in Congress who voted to overturn the 2020 election results even after mobs of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in a bid to prevent the certification of electoral votes that the president at the time wanted to cancel in his favor. . Earlier this year, Steube made headlines after waving three guns during a virtual gun violence hearing.
