Depraved thieves have stolen a sleeping angel statue from above the grave of James Bulger, the toddler who was murdered in 1993.
Taking to Facebook, her mother Denise Fergus explained that her husband Stuart visited the grave to clean it and lay flowers there yesterday morning (June 22).
It was then that he realized that the statue had disappeared.
Denise, 53, said: “Stuart went to clean up James’ resting place and laid some new flowers.
“He came back and told me that this sleeping statue had been taken.

“It’s made of concrete and has a bit of weight, so it didn’t blow anywhere.
“How low some people have to be to actually take from a baby’s grave.”
She also shared images of the grave, one with the statue on top and others with it clearly missing.
People were quick to vent their fury and offer Denise their support in the comments section.
One person said: “They are the lowest of the low, low life scum. Thoughts with you all xx.”

Another wrote: “Omg absolutely disgusting how can someone be so cruel as to rob a dead child’s grave.”
“Oh, those are garbage bags, hope karma gets them,” said a third.
James was only two years old when he was abducted and killed in Bootle, Merseyside by Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, both aged 10 at the time.
The two boys were convicted of kidnapping and murder in November 1993, making them the youngest convicted murderers in modern British history.

They were jailed but later released at the age of 18 with lifelong anonymity and new identification following a parole board hearing.
Venables, now 39, was sent to prison again in 2010 for violating the terms of his license.
He was locked up again in 2017 for possessing indecent images of children on his computer.
