WWE shocked fans on Friday when it announced that Chris Jericho will be appearing on the April 11 edition of Steve Austin’s Peacock show Broken Skull Sessions.
Shortly after the news broke, Sports Illustrated published an interview with Austin, which detailed how the AEW star’s appearance came about.
Austin began by recalling having a beer one night after his Broken Skull Sessions interview with The Undertaker aired. Jericho contacted him and praised the episode. Austin responded with a few emojis and then Jericho called him out.
They started talking and Austin told Jericho about the career he had in addition to helping the young talent at AEW. He then texted Vince McMahon about the possible appearance.
“I said, ‘I would love to have you on the show.’ And he said he would love to do it, so I checked with Vince about it. I texted Vince and said we had this badass idea of Jericho coming to the show, ”Austin said. “Vince says, ‘That’s cool. Go ahead.’ But me and Vince don’t always do well with phones and texts and all that stuff, so I texted once again, ‘Are you sure it’s OK to have Chris Jericho in the room. series? Vince gave me a thumbs up and Chris came out to do the show.
