Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has claimed Kelechi Iheanacho did not shine at Manchester City as he did not adapt quickly to English football.

Iheanacho signed for the Premier League side after his impressive performance in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Nigerian striker won the Golden Ball and the Silver Shoe at the tournament.

However, he struggled to break through on Pep Guardiola’s side after signing a five-year contract with City.

He eventually left for Leicester City in 2017 for £ 25million.

Before leaving the Etihad Stadium, he scored 21 goals in 64 appearances for the Citizens in all competitions.

Amuneke told Tribal Football: “His move to Man City has been good for him and also for Nigeria.

“There were probably a lot of expectations because of his performance at the Fifa U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. He did his best at Man City and now plays for Leicester City.
