Manchester United will save £ 10million if they strike a deal for a center-back goal ahead of Euro 2020, while a Serie A club are ready to look to Jose Mourinho – both in the Euro UKTN on Friday.
TORRES TALK RAMP AT MAN UTD
Manchester United are reportedly in a race against time to secure a deal for one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main transfer targets this summer.
the red devils always want to improve their defense, despite Eric Bailly signing a new agreement, and Center-back of Villarreal Pau Torres is a name at the top of their list.
Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Sevilla center-back Jules Kounde are also options. However, it looks like the Red Devils have chosen Torres – although they will have to act quickly.
Indeed, a Spanish radio show El Larguero (via the Daily Express) reports that United are now leading the race to sign the Spain international.
The report also says United want to strike a deal before Torres joins the Spanish squad for Euro 2020.
Spain’s first game of the delayed tournament takes place on June 14, when they face Sweden in their Group E opener.
United are eager to seal the deal, given that Torres’ contract release clause will rise by more than £ 10million if he does not move until the last 15 days of the transfer window.
Luckily for the Red Devils they are said to be in advanced talks with Villarreal which should see them signing the defender for £ 43.4million, instead of the higher fees.
The report adds that United’s talks are so advanced that figures like Real Madrid have ended their interest.
The 24-year-old has started 29 league games this season as Villarreal and has featured for them in their Europa League 2-1 victory against Arsenal Thursday evening.
United will also get a good look at the player when he travels to London next week for the semi-final second leg.
