The Football Association are in the process of compiling a list of possible replacements for England Under-21 coach Aidy Boothroyd, UKTN understands.
Boothroyd had a disappointing time as Under-21 boss after being put in place by FA boss Dan Ashworth, who has since moved to Brighton.
The Young Lions are currently competing in the European Championships but have limped to losses to Switzerland and Portugal. They had only one shot on target in both games and it was a free kick.
Boothroyd’s men are due to beat Croatia later Wednesday by two or more goals and hope Portugal beat Switzerland to advance.
Even if Boothroyd somehow manages to guide them to the next step, we understand that this tournament will be his last in charge. FA’s new technical director John McDermott is looking to make some changes.
Boothroyd is out of contract with the FA this summer.
England already have a number of names in sight and have a solid roster of potential successors of over half a dozen.
We can reveal some of the names that would be considered as Jody Morris, Steve Cooper, Jason Euell and Jack Lester.
Morris was Frank Lampard’s number two and was most recently at Chelsea and Derby. Earlier in his career he was a key part of the Chelsea academy coaching staff and enjoys a high reputation.
Lampard was linked, but we understand Morris to be the most likely target.
Cooper has a huge fan base within the FA, having led the Under-17s to World Cup success in 2017. He has since progressed in club management successfully and is currently looking to bring Swansea to the Premier League. . Bringing it back into the system could therefore be difficult.
One man in the system who also has a lot of fans in the halls of power at the FA is Euell.

Weight in consideration
The former Charlton, Wimbledon and Middlesbrough forward is currently an England Under-20 coach and his move to the next level is under serious consideration.
Another name we understand being considered is Lester – the current director of Sheffield United’s youth academy.
Lester, 45, has been with the Blades since July 2019 after attending Nottingham Forest academy and managing Chesterfield.
Lester has helped transform the club’s youth performance. His work has not gone unnoticed and he is now a candidate for England.
the The telegraph of the day on Tuesday reported that current England Under-17 coach Justin Cochrane was a candidate for the job.
The report claims that Cochrane, 39, will almost certainly be interviewed for the job.
