We are sad to announce that former WWE Referee/Official Dave Hebner has passed away. The news was first reported on Brian Hebner’s podcast account.
NASCAR’s Hermie Sadler noted on May 28 that Dave had been experiencing health issues, but the exact nature of his illness was not disclosed. PWInsider reports that he was battling Parkinson’s disease.
I have said many times that friendships and relationships are very important to me. I took the time today to visit Dave Hebner. The Hebner family is so special to my family. Join me in sending him positive vibes!! @BrianRDJames @WWEArmstrong @RealJeffJarrett @WWE pic.twitter.com/G8SHrs9jqa

Dave Hebner is the twin brother of Earl Hebner. Dave got his start in the late 1970s as a referee for the WWF where he appeared in many historic matches including Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III. He was also in the famous twin referees angle on the Main Event in 1988 that left Hulk Hogan getting kicked out of the WWF Championship and Andre The Giant taking over the belt from Ted DiBiase. This show was viewed by 33 million people, an all-time viewership record for professional wrestling in the United States. Hebner worked in WWF/E on and off camera until 2005, then had a brief stint in TNA Wrestling.
We extend our deepest condolences to Hebner’s friends and family.
