The extensive breakfast buffet with traditional savory options such as full meladies (stewed fava beans) or sesame falafel with hummus – along with sweet options like hot and flaky feteer meshaltet pastries served with cheese and drizzled with molasses – are so delicious you won’t be able to leave the hotel for breakfast during your entire stay.

Named after Chinese culture’s happiest song, 8 specializes in traditional Cantonese dishes such as Peking duck, shrimp and bamboo shoots, steamed whole fish, wok-fried beef in XO sauce, and Sichuan mapo tofu. Visit on Friday afternoons to sample a huge array of creative delicacies at the restaurant’s dim sum brunch.


In addition to a fitness center and a top-class spa with steam rooms and saunas, the property also features a tranquil adults-only indoor pool with a faceted glass roof and ceiling painted with blue skies and wispy white clouds.

On the rooftop, guests can relax and splash in family-friendly outdoor pools, surrounded by palm trees and other lush greenery.

The hotel’s warm and welcoming staff went out of their way to make every detail of my stay exceptional, from planning cars to arranging excursions and a top-notch guide.

During my stay, an incredibly attentive and considerate waiter also took great care in securing my favorite table overlooking the Nile, and every morning asked the kitchen to add a few extras from the menu to my favorite breakfast dish .

And when I had trouble finding a Covid testing facility that could deliver test results in time for me to make my flight home to the United States, the concierge graciously dove in to smooth out the travel problem that threatened my travel plans. derail.
