Gautam Adani is now the second richest in the world as Indian stocks brave the global sell-off

Gautam Adani listed as the second richest person in the world on UKTN

Billionaire Gautam Adani became the world’s second richest person on the Real-Time Billionaires List compiled by UKTN on Monday, after Indian stocks braved a broad sell-off of global risk assets on Monday.

On Monday, Indian stocks recovered from last week’s market chaos and were higher in a volatile session, fluctuating between gains and losses, defying broad global risk-out sentiment.

World stocks were tense and in the background awaiting the looming and widest rate hikes from the major central banks to take place this week.

Adani’s net worth rose $2.1 billion on Tuesday to $154.1 billion today, surpassing Louis Vitton’s Bernard Arnault, whose net worth fell $2.6 billion to $152.6 billion, according to UKTN.

On Friday, Gautam Adani had briefly caught up with Bernard Arnault, but a domestic equity carnage pushed him into third place ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
