GM, LG Energy drop plan for fourth US JV battery plant

WASHINGTON: General Motors Co and LG Energy Solution are not planning to move forward with a fourth US battery cell plant, sources told Reuters on Friday.

The company’s joint venture, Ultium Cells LLC, said in August it was considering a New Carlisle, Indiana, location for a fourth U.S. battery plant. “We have been very clear that our plan includes an investment in a fourth US cell plant, but we are not going to comment on speculation,” GM said in a statement Friday.
