Paul told The Sun: ‘If I want a drink, I’m going to have a drink. If I don’t want it, I’ll just leave it, which isn’t the right thing, but I’ve been like this for ages. I don’t trust the spirits, so I digress from them, but I’m on top of things for now. I enjoy life.
In January 2020, Paul appeared on This Morning where he told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid at the time: ‘I had a relapse at Christmas which gutted me [about], but I have just taken the right path.
That same month he told the Mirror: ‘I went to Australia and spent £ 20,000 including travel to get an operation that prevents me from drinking.
