A homicide investigation has been opened after the death of one person following a police call in Taupō last night.

Police responded to a serious assault on Arthur Crescent shortly after 11 p.m., where the person subsequently died.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder and will appear in Rotorua District Court tomorrow.
Police speak to witnesses and conduct an examination of the scene.
