Avesh Khan had taken four wickets in the 4th T20I against South Africa© BCCI
Avesh Khan was in fine form in the 4th T20 International (T20I) against South Africa as he took four wickets to help India register a crushing 82 run victory. The pacer brought back the wickets of Dwaine Pretorius, Rassie van der Dussen, Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj with career-best numbers of 4/18. Speaking after the match, Avesh revealed how Rishabh Pant’s suggestion helped him bag Jansen’s wicket. Avesh threw a terrific bouncer that knocked Jansen to the grill. On the next delivery, the lanky pacer was taken to the deep end as Avesh foxed him with a slower delivery.
“Rishabh told me from behind that after my bouncer at Jansen I could try a leg cutter, that’s a good wicket taking option so I threw a leg cutter as he said and I got a box office,” Avesh Khan told the host broadcaster. Star Sports after India win.
He said he also followed a similar plan for Keshav Maharaj.
“For Maharaj, I also played a hard pitch, then when I played him a slower pitch, I got the wicket,” he revealed.
His stunning display also came on his dad’s birthday and he couldn’t have thought of a better birthday present.
“It’s really good. It’s my dad’s birthday, so I would like to dedicate this performance to him,” Avesh said.

“The plan was to attack stump to stump as it was a two-pace wicket. Some deliveries stayed low and some bounced. So my effort was to roll the odd bouncer but more importantly hit a good length,” he said of India’s bowling plans in the game.
With the victory, India tied the series at 2-2 and the two teams will now meet in the deciding game in Bangalore on Sunday.
