The latest report highlights the efforts of the ITTF Foundation to adapt to the pandemic, as well as our achievements in 2020, including supporting 47 initiatives with the #TableTennisUnited fund; 171 countries and territories took part in the longest-running table tennis rally to celebrate World Table Tennis Day (WTTD); more than 10,000 euros of equipment was donated to the Iranian Table Tennis Federation to help the provinces affected by the floods; and three Dream Building projects that were able to restart, allowing us to support people in need and foster positive social outcomes through table tennis.
Partners are essential to our work here at the Foundation. In 2020, over 80% of ITTF member associations participated in at least one Foundation activity. The field project managers have shown great strength and resilience in keeping their local participants engaged through creative ideas.
Hundreds of children and people with disabilities in Za’atari and Azraq refugee camps in Jordan were able to continue their training sessions, exploring their potential despite the challenges. Emergency funds made possible by #TableTennisUnited have come to help in the Covid-19 pandemic. With donations from around the world, we are helping the global table tennis community overcome challenges in times like these.
Even as the ITTF Foundation looks back on 2020, we are focused on the future. The massive impact of the Covid-19 crisis on humanity calls for action to strengthen services and systems. As inequalities and turmoil increase with the global pandemic, the ITTF Foundation is using table tennis as a tool to respond, recover and reshape a world fit for all.
“The ITTF Foundation stays close to the table tennis community, adapts to the needs of people and circumstances. In 2020, we learned to promote social friendliness while respecting physical distance.
Thank you to the ITTF Foundation Board and Board of Directors for their guidance, to the ITTF Executive Committee and the ITTF family for their support, but most of all to our team for their hard work and dedication to service. of the community during this special time.
