There were few others who weren’t as pleased with the reveal, as they expected it to live up to the actor’s powerful stature.
Nelson’s latest directorial endeavor with Thalapathy Vijay, Beast, was met with a polarized reaction, and there were rumors that the superstar was unhappy with Nelson, and the latter would be replaced as director. Around Apri, Rajinikanth watched a special screening of Beast directed by Nelson Dilipkumar starring Thalapathy Vijay. The special screening was organized by the creators of Thalaivar 169 for the megastar and according to media reports, Rajinikanth was unimpressed with the film. Therefore, according to the media, he decided to change the director of the film. However, there has been no official statement on this.
Speaking of Beast, Vijay’s father, filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar also agreed with Beast’s negative response. Chandrasekhar criticized director Nelson for his lack of understanding of the subject matter and of a proper script. According to UK Time News report, Chandrasekhar told Thanthi TV that Beast was created solely based on Vijay’s fame. He further slammed Nelson saying that the young filmmakers “deliver a great first film in terms of content, technology and direction. They kind of get good results with the second film as well. When they start getting the big superstar projects, these young filmmakers start thinking, ‘now that we have dates with these heroes, we can make movies the way we want.
