Jeremy has previously shared how his beloved dog Derek helped him fight depression by walking three times a day.
Last month, Jeremy defended his habit of shooting squirrels with an air rifle while perched on the toilet, calling rodents a “ threat ” that frightened songbirds.
He ignored suggestions that he was’ cruel ‘, responding:’ They annoy me. ”
Speaking to comedian Richard Herring, he explained, “ You turn around – not while I’m doing ac ** p of course – just sitting on the toilet if it’s by the window.
You sit on the toilet with the lid down. With an air rifle you can jump, blow up a squirrel or two.

The fact that Paxman opens fire on squirrels in his toilet was first revealed in the introduction to his 2016 memoir, A Life in Questions.
Justifying the practice, he told Herring: ‘They always go up in the bird feeder.
“I love songbirds and can’t stand the fact that squirrels always hunt them.
“They kill all kinds of things. For example, they kill trees – entire trees are killed by squirrels. Its a threat.
Gray squirrels are allowed to be slaughtered in Britain by means such as shooting, provided it is done in a humane manner.
Marked by some as ‘tree rats’, they originated in America in the late 19th century to become the dominant squirrel in the UK, meaning the reds are now a protected species.
Jeremy was first seen with a cane in 2016 while out for a walk with his then 37-year-old partner Jillian Taylor.
In 2016, he was rushed to intensive care with a life-threatening blood clot in his lungs after routine knee surgery.
Veteran broadcaster Newsnight got scared after undergoing knee surgery, which had become ‘worn out’ from jogging. He was then broken using crutches.
