Juvenile driver charged with homicide while driving a vehicle in Foothills crash in Boulder

June 23 – The juvenile driver accused of causing a three-car accident on Foothills Parkway in April that killed two people has been charged with two counts of driving homicide.

The April 9 crash resulted in the deaths of Ori Tsioni, 33, and Gregoria Morales Ramirez, 49.

“This accident was terrible and had tragic consequences,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said in a statement. “When I met with the families of the victims and the injured woman, we spoke about the loss and trauma caused by this accident. The district attorney’s office is fully committed to getting the right outcome in this case.”

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the minor was driving a southbound 2002 Dodge Dakota in the northbound lanes of Foothills Parkway when she collided head-on with a northbound Subaru. The Subaru was then stamped by the Honda Accord.

Tsioni was the driver of the Subaru and was taken from the scene to hospital but later died. Ramirez, the passenger in the Subaru, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Accord’s driver, a 65-year-old woman from Longmont, was seriously injured.

Dougherty said prosecutors have to wait for charges to be filed due to the results of the investigation and toxicology, which can sometimes take months.

Prosecutors also said the investigation into how the minor obtained alcohol and where she was drinking is still being investigated and could lead to new charges.
