The 34-year-old actor’s username @KanganaTeam now displays the message: account suspended.
Ranaut, known for her often inflammatory tweets, posted several posts following the victory of the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee over the BJP in West Bengal and incidents of post-election violence. Calling for the president’s rule in the state, she also blamed Banerjee for the violence and called his names unpublishable.
“We have made it clear that we will take strict crackdown on behavior that can cause harm offline,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement.
“The referenced account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter’s rules, in particular our Hateful Conduct Policy and Abusive Behavior Policy. We enforce Twitter’s rules wisely and impartially for all users of our service,” added the spokesperson.
According to Twitter’s Abusive Behavior Policy, “you cannot engage in targeted harassment of someone, or induce others to do so or attempt to harass, intimidate or silence someone’s voice. another “.
When an account is permanently suspended, the account holder is notified of the rules they violated, the social media platform said, citing the policy.
Writer-lyricist Hussain Haidry shared two tweets from the actor on Monday and urged people to report the account.
“If you are a blue tick account or have many subscribers, I am not asking you to speak out against it. But please just flag these two tweets. It calls for mass violence. And direct it towards Muslims, ”he wrote.
Many social media users called on Ranaut to spread the hate.
The actor also posted a video on Instagram where she called the liberal international media’s silence on the violence in Bengal a “conspiracy against India.” Ranaut is also active on Facebook.
Last year, the account of Ranaut’s sister Rangoli was suspended on the microblogging site. The actor became active on Twitter after that.
