Lincolnshire Police said in a statement on Sunday: “We have charged 22-year-old Deividas Skebas tonight with the murder of nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte.
“Lilia died tragically after an incident in Fountain Lane, Boston, around 6:20 p.m. on July 28. She is believed to have suffered a stab wound.”
Chief Superintendent Martyn Parker added: “This is a heartbreaking case that has affected many people in Boston and beyond. Our thoughts remain with Lilia’s family during this exceptionally difficult time.
“The response to such a devastating incident has included committing significant resources to the investigation and reaching out to people in Boston who are understandably shocked by Lilia’s death.
“Our agents have been in town, speaking to the public and listening to their concerns. We will continue to have a strong presence in the coming days.”
Lincolnshire Police added that two people arrested earlier this week have been released without further action.
