Longmont Police Respond to Shooting Report, Find Man with BB Gun


June 22 – A report of a shooting in Longmont on Saturday was determined to be a man with a BB gun.

Longmont Police were called to Clark Centennial Community Park, 1100 Lashley St., at 3:07 p.m. Saturday to a report of a man shooting a gun in the park.

After locating the suspect, an officer saw the man raise his right arm in the air holding a black object resembling a gun. The officer activated their overhead patrol lights and, when he approached the suspect, activated the vehicle’s sirens. The suspect jumped when he heard the sirens, immediately raised his empty hands in the air and was taken into custody without incident.

The officer discovered that the weapon was a BB gun. No injuries were reported.

The man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, and he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
