Mahindra & Mahindra has appointed Dr Uli Stuhec as vice president and manager to lead the new Global Born Electric platform. The new Born Electric Vehicle (BEV) platform will support a number of the company’s electric SUVs in the future. The automaker consolidated its electric mobility business under two verticals. One vertical will be Last Mile Mobility (LMM) and the other will be Electric Vehicle Tech Center. Dr Anish Shah, MD and CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra, confirmed the development via a tweet. Dr Shah tweeted, Welcome Uli, we are delighted to have you join @mahindrarise as we prepare for a much bigger foray into electric mobility and step up our sustainability efforts.
Dr Stuhec will report to Pankaj Sonalkar, Head of the Electric Vehicle Technology Center. Meanwhile, Samir Rawte, Head of EV Platform in India will report to Dr Stuhec and Senthur Pandian, Head of Platform and Delivery Manager for all passenger vehicle platforms.
Dr. Uli Stuhec will be part of the Electric Vehicle Tech Center at the Mahindra North American Technical Center (MNATC) in Detroit, USA. The team will work on the vision of superior electrification and create products and technologies for electric vehicles. Dr Stuhec will be responsible for planning and executing the BEV product development strategy, based on customer needs. The BEV platform team will work in collaboration with Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.
Dr Stuhec comes to Mahindra after a stint with Michigan-based May Mobility where he was vice president of automotive engineering. He also led the launch of autonomous shuttles in Texas and Japan. In addition, he previously worked with Streetscooter – part of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, one of the largest manufacturers of electric delivery trucks in the world. Dr. Stuhec worked with Ford Motor Company in different roles for a period of 17 years.
