Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke has suggested his team will listen to “exceptional offers” for Jadon Sancho this summer.

Sancho was United’s main target in the summer 2020 transfer window as they searched for a new right-winger. However, the price Dortmund asked was baffling. The German giants were holding € 120million after Sancho scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists in the Bundesliga last season. It was a price United didn’t want to pay, so they turned to other goals.

But the ties with Sancho have not disappeared. And with the winger suffering from a form dive this season, maybe they hope to sign it for a small fee.

It has now emerged that Dortmund would rather let Sancho go than say goodbye to the precious asset Erling Haaland.

Haaland is one of the most requested players in world football. Reports of a summer move intensified with agent Mino Raiola recently embarked on a tour of Europe to speak to potential suitors.

It seems that the super agent is also ready to make a tempting bargain from his sale.

however, Watzke claims Dortmund haven’t thought about selling the Norwegian. But he admits that Sancho might end up leaving if they receive an appropriate offer when the market reopens.

“We don’t have a parallel plan. We will discuss this with Erling, his father and his agent Mino Raiola, ”said Watzke. Objective and DAZN. “We also want him to be happy to stay with us, to score goals for BVB next year with conviction. There is no alternative plan. “

Pressed on whether Haaland and Sancho will still be at Dortmund next season, Watzke gave a revealing answer.

“I don’t get involved in the odds, it’s not good. Jadon Sancho has been with us much longer than Erling Haaland. We’ll also need to talk to Jadon.

“If there is an exceptional offer, we will discuss it with the player and the agent, as always. Nonetheless, I am convinced that the transfer market will only work to a very limited extent this summer.

The Sancho sales plan explained

Sancho is approaching the last two years of his contract at Dortmund. Moreover, his stock is not as high now as it was in 2020 after a season of both the rise and fall at Westfalenstadion.

According to SportBILD, Dortmund plans to sell Sancho this summer so that they can reinvest in their team.

One of their main targets is PSV starlet Donyell Malen, whom they could only afford by selling Sancho. Therefore, they are waiting for a new offer from United.

It remains to be seen what fees Dortmund can expect to attract for Sancho. However, it is possible that an offer of 80 million euros will persuade them to sell.

Moreover, Dortmund’s form in the Bundesliga has been uneven to say the least this season. BVB are currently fifth in the table but lag behind fourth Eintracht Frankfurt by seven points. As such, they are at serious risk of missing out on a Champions League spot.

They face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, Sancho appears to be missing both legs after missing last month due to injury.

Sancho did not train with Borussia Dortmund squad on Sunday. Now the acting Bundesliga club manager Edin Terzic has hinted that the winger will not be fit to face his former side.

“With Jadon, we hope the situation with him will change in the next seven to ten days,” Terzic said.
