Nationwide home insurance coverage
A nationwide homeowner’s policy includes not only the standard coverage you’d expect, but also a type of insurance that other companies often charge extra for: prescription or legal coverage. It pays to bring your home up to current building codes when rebuilding or repairing a claim, with a limit of up to 10% of your home’s coverage. (Higher limits are available at an additional cost.)
A nationwide home insurance policy also covers losses up to $ 500 due to unauthorized credit or debit transactions, forged checks or counterfeit money. You can upgrade to coverage worth $ 10,000.
Depending on where you live, you may be able to add the following features to your policy:
Extended replacement cost, which increases your home’s coverage up to 20% over your policy limit in the event it costs more to rebuild your home than expected after a covered loss.
New properties, which pays enough to restore damaged goods or replace them with new ones. (A default owner policy covers older items only for their depreciated value.)
Better roof replacement, which pays to rebuild your roof with stronger materials if it is damaged for a covered reason.
Identity theft coverage to monitor your personal data and help resolve if your identity is stolen.
Additional coverage for valuables for jewelry, art and other high value goods.
Water emergency blanket for damage due to an overflowing sump pump or emergency drain.

Nationwide Home Insurance FAQs
Does Nationwide Home Insurance Cover Mobile Phones?
Yes, cell phones are covered against theft and certain types of damage up to your policy’s personal property limit. Note that a deductible applies to this coverage, so if your phone is stolen but it’s worth less than your deductible, filing a claim probably doesn’t make sense.
What other types of insurance does Nationwide offer?
Nationwide sells auto, boat, umbrella, life and other insurance policies, as well as financial products such as annuities and mutual funds. Learn more about auto insurance nationwide.
Does Nationwide insure mobile homes?
No. If you’re looking for other options, check out the UKTN guide to mobile home insurance.
Does Nationwide Home Insurance Cover Water Leaks?
Home insurance is designed to cover sudden and accidental loss, not wear and tear or maintenance. So if a pipe suddenly bursts sending water all over your basement, your home insurance policy will likely cover the resulting damage. But if a drain has been slowly leaking for weeks and you only discovered it when the mold started growing, that damage would be considered a maintenance issue and not be covered.
