Northland continues to be the worst performing region to meet its Covid-19 vaccination targets.
It misses 4,306 doses, or about 70% of its goal.
The Rotorua Lake District is the second worst at 81%, along with Wairarapa (82%), South Canterbury (88%), Hawke’s Bay (93%), Tairāwhiti (98%), Waikato (98%) and Auckland (96 %) all also fail.
Health Minister Chris Hipkins said Northland has set itself a pretty ambitious target.
“At the moment they are not meeting that target, so we will be working with them on what we can do to increase those numbers.
“Do they need additional resources, can we work with other DHBs to lend them additional resources if they need it.
“We know this Northland population includes some of the most vulnerable people we want to see vaccinated.”
Hipkins says, overall, the country is slightly ahead of its vaccination target.
