One person shot in Lexington, taken to hospital seriously injured

A person in Lexington was sent to a hospital with serious injuries on Thursday afternoon after being shot, according to Lexington Police Department.

At 12:01 a.m., police received a report of a person who had been shot at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of Jennifer Road, according to Lexington Police Department Lieutenant Joe Anderson. That person was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Lexington Fire Department Major Jessica Bowman.

Police have not released any additional information about the victim or a possible suspect. More information is expected to be released later.

Anderson said an investigation is underway.
