A parachute regiment was withdrawn from deployment in Kosovo and barred from service this summer after members filmed a lewd clip of an orgy at an army barracks.

Members of the British Army’s 3 PARA filmed themselves having sex with a woman at Merville Barracks in Colchester.

3 PARA Group has “lost confidence” in Chief of the General Staff Sir Patrick Sanders, according to a letter to the entire Parachute Regiment.

The regiment will no longer join a NATO operation in Kosovo this summer.

The letter said the decision was “based on recent disciplinary incidents”.

A former soldier told the Mirror: “This means more troops will be sent to Kosovo at short notice. Everyone knows the military is understaffed.

“What happens when there is a war in Europe is outrageous.”

An army spokesman said: “All forms of unacceptable behavior, including those of a sexual nature, have no place in an inclusive and respectful armed forces.”

General Sanders, the newly installed army chief, explained that he did not want to “risk the reputation” of the British army with his deployment. He described the behavior at Merville Barracks as “unacceptable” and “corrosive”.

The annual deployment is part of a ten-day joint military exercise with NATO allies – with around 400 paratroopers traveling to Bosnia and Kosovo from the UK to take part.

This marks a good start for General Sanders at the head of the British army, which he only assumed at the start of the week.

Eight soldiers were reportedly investigated by the Royal Military Police earlier this month after videos emerged of an orgy with a civilian woman – which turned out to be consensual.

The woman is said to have been smuggled into Colchester Barracks 31 times in five months.

The police reportedly established that no crime had been committed.

However, Gen. Sanders said the activity and images that were released could appear to be “denigrating women” and were below the military’s own standards.

Following the scandal, elite army soldiers were reportedly put on STI alert for fear of a herpes outbreak.
