Passenger killed when she got out of vehicle on Fort Worth Interstate, ran away, police say


A woman died early Sunday while running on a highway in Fort Worth, police said.

The woman was a passenger in a vehicle heading west on Interstate 20 when she tried to jump out while it was in motion, Fort Worth police said.

The driver pulled to the side of the highway and stopped. The passenger got out, ran into traffic and was hit in a westbound lane on the 2700 block of the freeway, police said. Officers were called around 12:45 p.m.

MedStar personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office has not released her name or age.

The vehicle had already left before the officers arrived, police said.
