Delegates from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Osun State returned the outgoing National Vice President of Southwest, Eddy Olafeso, in the same capacity to the next Party Zonal Congress in the area.
Recall that another hope of the position of the southwestern party chairman, Amb. Taofeeq Arapaja, who was a former deputy governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja recently visited a section of PDP leaders in Osogbo, to gain his support and adoption as a good candidate .
While Amb. Arapaja, is one of the faithful of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Dr Olafeso enjoys the support of a former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Ayodele Fayose.
Osun PDP delegates on Thursday at the Party Secretariat in Biket area, Osogbo unanimously endorsed Dr Olafeso, described him as a round peg.
The party chairman in the state, the Hon. Sunday Bisi, who chaired the meeting, argued that the outgoing National Vice President of the South West is the only candidate in sight, who could make the party proud in every sense of the word.
Hon. Bisi said Olafeso has been tested and trusted to project and protect the interests of all party members if reelected.
Speaking at the event, the Party’s National Assistant Secretary for Publicity, The Hon. Diran Odeyemi, who threw his weight behind Olafeso and his team said he had worked with both Amb. Arapaja and Dr Olafeso and that the latter is the best choice for the job.
In his words, a former national party secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo urged delegates and party leaders not to give in in their determination to support Olafeso as he alone represents the general interest and the will of party members in The area.
He assured them that, given Dr Olafeso’s experience, integrity and track record, he would perform perfectly well in the PDP National Vice President missions in the South West.
Previously, Dr Olafeso, who expressed his joy and satisfaction at the massive attendance of leaders and delegates at the event, said he would perform brilliantly whenever the Zone Congress is held.
“I won. With what you see here in Osogbo that has already been replicated in Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo and even Oyo, it is very clear that the delegates and all other relevant stakeholders are firmly behind us.” , said Olafeso.
“Engineer Deji Doherty of Lagos, the Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele of Ogun, the Hon. Sunday Bisi of Osun and all the others are firmly behind us, ”he added.
He, however, disowned the April 10 date of the Southwest Zone Congress, which should have been held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, as he flew on social media platforms.
