Police arrest three bandits, recover AK-47 rifles in Benue – UKTN

Benue State Police Command said it arrested three bandits and recovered dangerous weapons in the Katsina-Ala local government area.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Catherine Anene and made available to journalists on Wednesday, reports NAN.

Anene said the bandit camp was located in a forest in Tomatar Imande Ukusuu Mbachor neighborhood, Katsina-Ala, was raided by police officers on April 28.

According to her, the bandits had been shot and wounded during the exchange of gunfire with police during the raid and later died on their way to the hospital.

“During the operation, there was a prolonged exchange of gunfire between the police and bandits.

“As a result, three of the bandits were arrested with gunshot wounds while other suspects fled with wounds.

“The injured suspects were taken to hospital but were confirmed dead by medics.

“The bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Benue State University Hospital in Makurdi.

“In addition, two AK-47 rifles, 29 7.62mm rounds, knives and cutlasses as well as a bunch of substances suspected of being charms were recovered,” she said.
