Indian shuttle ace PV Sindhu clinched a comfortable back-to-back victory over Germany’s Yvonne Li to advance to the women’s singles quarter-finals of the Indonesian Open Super 1000 on Thursday. The reigning world champion, seeded third here, barely sweated to win the 21-12 21-18 second round clash against the world No.26 in 37 minutes in the $ 850,000 event. Facing Li for the first time, world number 7 Sindhu looked completely in control from the start. Such was her dominance that the two-time Olympic medalist won the opener with ease, scoring seven points in a row at one stage.

Yvonne Li had a good recovery in the second game and it was more evenly contested. But Sindhu persisted and didn’t let the German take the lead.

Sindhu will face the winner of the second round match between Spain’s Beatriz Corrales and South Korea’s Sim Yujin in the quarter-finals.
