Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) returned from hospital on Saturday, having suffered “several serious injuries” in a 25-foot fall from a ladder on his property earlier this week.
“I’m thankful to be home and recovering after being released from the hospital today,” Steube said in a tweet. “All praise and honor goes to God! Jen and I continue to be endlessly blessed by the prayers and support of our friends, family and community.”
The Florida Republican was knocked off a ladder Wednesday when he threw tree branches on his property in Sarasota, Fla. He spent the night in ICU before being taken from intensive care on Thursday afternoon.
“I would like to say a big thank you to the entire team at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for the excellent care I received,” added Steube. “My office will provide updates next week on how my recovery will affect my return to Washington.”
Steube will join the newly created Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government upon his return to Congress, Chairman Kevin McCarthy said Thursday.
“He is in good spirits and our entire conference is praying for a speedy recovery,” McCarthy said in a tweet after speaking with the congressman and his wife Thursday morning. “I’ve let him know he’ll be serving on the Select Subcommittee… and he’s eager to get back to work!”
