Reports in Italy have revealed that Liverpool have made a huge bid for Chelsea target Federico Chiesa this summer.
The 23-year-old was instrumental in Italy’s European Championship triumph earlier this year. He scored important goals against Austria and Spain on the Azzurri’s road to the final.
Chiesa has also been in great shape for Juventus. He scored 15 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season, despite the club’s poor league result.
The forward opened his account for the ongoing campaign against Spezia on September 22. He also scored the winner against Chelsea in the Champions League group stage a week later.
Shortly after the Euro final, Chiesa was linked with a Premier League switch. Both Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly considering huge offers.
italian exit TuttoJuve (Going through Sports witness) have now reported that a significant offer has been made.
Liverpool have reportedly paid between € 80m and € 100m (£ 67.7m to £ 84.6m) for Chiesa’s services. Their offer was matched by German champions Bayern Munich.
Juve chose to keep the Italian star rather than cash. He is seen as an integral part of the squad as they aim to win back the Serie A crown.
The player is just over halfway on a two-year loan from Fiorentina. Juve will make the deal permanent next summer for an announced amount of € 60m (£ 54m).
Chiesa was asked about Liverpool and Chelsea links in September. Rumors had intensified following suggestions of a split with manager Max Allegri.
Bad time, bad place: Salah, Vardy and Ronaldo the favorites of this crazy offer
“I never had a problem with the coach,” said Chiesa Amazon Prime Italy. “It has just been created by the media. I do whatever he asks, there is no problem here.
“I know you like it a lot when Juve starts the season badly, so you can start with unnecessary gossip. But we are all behind the coach and want to take Juve back to the years of domination of the Scudetto race. “
Liverpool legend claims Salah
Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush believes Mo Salah is up there with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The Egyptian has nine goals in as many games this season. He looks set for another impressive season in front of goal.
Salah’s form will be integral if Jurgen Klopp’s men are to win back the league or UCL.
In an interview with Echo of Liverpool, Rush said: “I’ve said it before, right, right now, in his current form, Mo Salah is the best player in the world!”
“Cristiano Ronaldo went to Manchester United and yes he’s doing well.
“Lionel Messi went to Paris Saint-Germain and it took a little while to settle in but Salah took him to a different level.
“I spoke to Mo last season and he told me he wanted to be the best in the world.
“Of course he scored some great goals and he was the fastest at 100 goals, that’s great. Fantastic. But he also plays for the team.
