Robert Lewandowski hopes to seal Barcelona transfer after £34m bid

Barcelona have finally made a bid for Robert Lewandowski which is worth up to £34m (€40m).

Bayern Munich’s offer for the striker is £30m (€35m) up front plus £4.3m (€5m) in add-ons.

Given that Lewandowski turns 34 in August, enters the final year of his contract at Bayern and has more than once publicly stated his desire to leave this summer, then he hopes the offer will be accepted.

The Poland international is adamant that he wants to leave Bayern and feels that, having joined on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, having exhausted his contract, and given his service to the club, his request should be granted.

Barcelona have made Lewandowski their main transfer target and want him to be available for their pre-season tour of the United States which starts on July 16.

It is also understood that the offer from Barcelona, with a three-year contract filed, matches the valuation Bayern have placed on Lewandowski even though they insist he is not for sale. However, Bayern asked for £34m without add-ons.

When presenting Sadio Mané on Wednesday, having signed from Liverpool for up to £35million, Bayern chief executive Oliver Kahn insisted: “The situation has not changed. Robert has a contract with us for another year and we expect to see him on the first day of pre-season in July.

Bayern board member Hasan Salihamidzic was less direct, however, and it is understood Lewandowski and his agent, Pini Zahavi, met with him and Kahn last week to discuss the move.

Bayern questioned whether Barcelona had the financial wherewithal to complete the deal but Lewandowski, who has received other offers including offers from Premier League clubs, has made it clear he wants to join the Spanish giants . Lewandowski even said he played his last game for Bayern.
