Shooting reported outside Muncie Walmart store Saturday night


MUNCIE, Ind. – Muncie police investigated a shooting outside the Walmart store on the north side Saturday night.

Emergency services were dispatched to the store’s parking lot at 4801 W. Clara Lane at 8:44 PM. At least one person was transported by ambulance to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Shortly after 9 p.m., authorities were informed that a possible suspect ran along North Nebo Road, about a mile west of the shooting site.

A short time later, a person was reportedly taken into custody at 2300 block of North Nebo Road.

A vehicle seen at the shooting scene was also reportedly found. A firearm was found in that vehicle, according to scanner traffic.

Police had taped off much of the store’s parking lot and asked customers in the parking lot if they’d seen anything. The store remained open just after 9 p.m.
