Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must stop playing with his words and be honest about Anthony Martial, an expert believes.
The French striker arrived at Old Trafford as the world’s most expensive Monegasque teenager in 2015. But as he enters his seventh season as the Red Devil, he still fails to really convince.
On Wednesday he struggled to have much of an impact as United left the Carabao Cup at West Ham.
Indeed, the hammers took revenge on their Premier League rivals, who rested Cristiano Ronaldo.
After the game, a labeled expert Martial’s “horrible to watch” body language. Dion Dublin has also accused the 25-year-old of not doing enough since arriving.
Meanwhile, in his post-match comments United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted Martial “knows what we want from him”. He added that the striker “must keep working and he will have his chances”.
According to Jamie O’Hara, Solskjaer should look more like his Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel. The German was honest about replacing Saul Niguez 45 minutes after his debut earlier this month.
“I want it [Solskjaer] be like Thomas Tuchel, who comes out and is honest, like when Saul was taken out at halftime, ”said O’Hara talkSPORT‘s The Sports Bar.
“But he gives these politically boring answers.”
Tuchel said of Saul after Chelsea’s recent 3-0 win over Aston Villa: “I had a feeling he struggled.
“There were some big mistakes, some passing mistakes, and he struggled with the intensity. You can see that it is not completely suitable.
“It’s entirely my responsibility. I had the feeling that he could replace us and play at this level. I [then] I thought maybe it was better to change it, but it doesn’t change a thing [about how I see him]. “
Barcelona reportedly consider Martial transfer
Martial made 264 appearances for United, scoring 78 goals and helping 50 others.
His current contract expires in the summer of 2024, but reports have claimed he could leave in the next January transfer window.
The Red Devils are said to listen to the offers for him and want £ 40million for him.
At this price, however, Martial would feel like he might be left out of a move.
Barcelona and Tottenham have been named as potential next destinations.
