The first secretary of the Swiss embassy in Tehran was found dead Tuesday after falling from a skyscraper where she lived in the north of the city, said an emergency services spokesperson quoted by the agencies Iranian press releases.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry (FDFA) said an employee of its embassy in Iran died in an accident, without identifying the victim. “The FDFA and its Chief Federal Adviser Ignazio Cassis are shocked by the tragic death and express their deepest condolences to the family,” he said.

Iranian emergency services spokesman Mojtaba Khaledi said the diplomat’s body was found by a gardener after an employee who arrived at his apartment early Tuesday noticed his disappearance, the agency reported. Fars press release.

“This person was the first secretary of the Swiss embassy,” Khaledi told the Mehr news agency. “The cause of his fall has not yet been determined,” he told Fars.

The diplomat was 51, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported. Other reports put her at 52.
