NEW DELHI: The Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) will be holding board exams for private applicants from August 16 and will then announce the results soon.
“The jury will proceed to the examinations of the students of the private category on August 16 and September 15, 2021. The results will also be declared as soon as possible to avoid any difficulty of admission in higher education”, indicated Wednesday the CBSE .
Private applicants are those who were regular students with CBSE earlier but failed exams and are looking to improve their score. The CBSE said this was done in accordance with the policy formulated and communicated to the Supreme Court earlier.
Board exams have been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Union’s Education Ministry had told the Supreme Court that the CBSE would release results for regular students by July 31 based on an assessment template.
The results of the CBSE board will be based on a 30:30:40 model, with schools being responsible for doing most of the exercise based on internal assessment, practical work and project work. While a student’s performance in grades 10 and 11 will be given a 30% weighting each, a performance in class 12 will be given a weighting of 40%.
The CBSE also extended the deadline for thousands of its affiliated schools on Wednesday to complete the board results process and moderation of grades before announcing results by the end of July.
The move came as schools struggled to cope with the tight deadline due to grading and moderation errors, which the board previously warned.
