The Interview – Rwandan FM dismisses fears of war with neighboring DR Congo

Rwandan Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta gave an interview to UKTN to discuss the increasingly tense situation with neighboring DR Congo. Earlier on Friday, a Congolese soldier crossed the border and was killed by Rwandan security forces, while two Rwandan soldiers were injured. Fighting between Congolese troops and a rebel movement called M23 has fueled tensions between the two neighbours. Biruta dismissed fears that the tensions could lead to war. He also insisted that Rwanda was “committed” to its agreement with the UK to receive asylum seekers, despite the cancellation of the first flight earlier this week. .
