The billionaire owner of Spotify, with the help of three Arsenal Invincibles, offers to buy the Gunners from the American owner under fire, Stan Kroenke.
Last week Daniel Ek, an Arsenal family, expressed interest in buying the Gunners. In a post on Twitter, Ek said: “Growing up, I cheered @Arsenal for as long as I can remember. If KSE wants to sell Arsenal I would be happy to throw my hat in the ring.
And now, according to the The telegraph of the day, Ek has teamed up with Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira to fight against control of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment.
Arsenal ownership has come under attack in light of the club’s plans to join the European Super League. The club, like the other five Premier League participants, quickly backed off the deal. The new competition was the subject of strong criticism.
More than 1,000 Arsenal fans demonstrated at The Emirates on Friday ahead of the Premier League’s clash with Everton.
Protesters called on Kroenke to quit the club. However, a statement last week suggested something else.
Josh Kroenke has ruled out a sale one online question and answer session.
Josh Kroenke said: “We will rebuild. We think we are in a position to move forward with Arsenal football club.
“We have been put in a difficult situation by sources outside the club.
“I want to go back to London, I want to do this. I am aware that we have never had confidence, we have to build a bridge, we will.
“We have big investment plans, we have projects, we want to be great again, but a long-term model doesn’t support long-term high investments. We have no intention of selling.
Ek, however, appears ready to test KSE’s resolve and “is ready to make a formal offer to buy the club from Kroenke”.
The Swedish entrepreneur is worth £ 3.4 billion, according to UKTN, while his music streaming service Spotify is valued at £ 51.9 billion.
Arsenal valued at over £ 1.5bn
There is no doubt that he has the funds to fund a purchase of the club and with three members of the 2003/04 Invincible team on board, he will immediately have the fans by his side.
The report claims that Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira “could all return to Arsenal to be part of the new organization”.
Henry criticized the club under Kroenke.
“I don’t recognize my club and what happened a while ago, with them trying to join a league that was reportedly closed, doesn’t make sense to me,” Henry told the Telegraph.
Sky Sports also reported that Ek has teamed up with the three Arsenal legends to strike a deal. No pricing was mentioned, but in 2018 the club were valued at £ 1.65well after Alisher Usmanov has agreed to sell his 30% stake to Kroenke for £ 550million.
