Three dead in shootings during violent night in Oakland

OAKLAND – Three people were killed and another person injured in a pair of unrelated shootings during a violent night on the streets of Oakland Monday, authorities said.

Oakland Police said the first fatal shootings occurred at 7:45 p.m. Agents responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 3100 block of Telegraph Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found two gunshot wounds. The officers and firefighters provided medical assistance, but unfortunately both victims died on the spot. Investigators told the East Bay Times that the men had been found in two different companies.

A third victim was himself transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the victims were withheld pending the announcement of the next of kin. Several shell casings were found at the scene. No information has been released about a suspect or suspects or a motive behind the incident.

Less than an hour later, the Oakland Emergency Center received multiple calls regarding a shooting in Block 2200 of E. 20th St. Oncoming officers found a victim with gunshot wounds.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name was withheld pending notification to next of kin.

No information has been released about a suspect or suspects or a motive behind the incident.

The deaths were the 88th, 89th and 90th homicides of the year in Oakland.
