THREE women from the same family have been found stabbed to death in their home and police are looking for a male relative in connection with the crime.
A mother, her daughter and a disabled stepdaughter were found at 10:40 a.m. Friday at a home in Queens, New York, by the mother’s son and a health center aide, the NYPD said.
The women were 68, 47 and 26 years old.
According to authorities, two of the women were stabbed in the neck and one suffered severe head trauma.
The youngest victim was bedridden and had to move around in a wheelchair.
She moved into the house from Jamaica a few months ago, neighbors said.
“I am devastated, it is a lot. We’ve been here ever since [9am]. We’re just trying to support each other,” the oldest victim’s niece told The New York Post.
“I am still in disbelief. I am in complete shock.”
The eldest woman’s son came home from work at 8 in the morning, but could not enter the house because he had no key and no one answered.
The son waited in his car because he knew the family medical aid, who came to help the 26-year-old that day, would have a key.
After entering the home, the son discovered the women’s bodies and called the neighbor, William Sanders, 68, who has known the family for 13 years.
“[He] called me and said, ‘Will, run and come. I found mom [and the other two victims] dead,” Sanders said.
“I walked every light and came here.”
Sanders said he had a close relationship with the oldest victim.
“It doesn’t get any better than that,” he said.
“If I was broke, she’d give me $20.”
He said he can’t believe what happened to the women.
‘I don’t believe until they walk out with the body. She was a person who would take time out when I was in the hospital and look at me and burst into tears.
Police called the crime an “isolated” and “domestic” incident and said there is no danger to the community despite no suspect being found.
A cousin of the oldest woman, who would not give her name, said she was heartbroken.
“I’m trying to figure out if I’m in a dream or something. It’s unbelievable. I know it’s real – I don’t see the bodies, but I know it’s real,” she said.
‘I don’t know what to say. She was a good person. Kind, loving, caring.”
Another anonymous woman came to the house after her employee failed to show up for work.
When she heard the terrible news, she burst into tears.
“Are you serious?” she asked.
The eldest victim worked for her family and provided home care to her sick father.
“We were so close — oh my god. I thought she just went to bed and didn’t wake up,” she said.
“My son is in school, when he hears this he will go crazy.”
A man who lives in the basement of the home was not injured, local media reported.
Police are looking for a man related to one of the victims, who is believed to have run from the home around 5am.
Mayor Eric Adams visited the house Friday afternoon and issued a brief statement.
“My heart goes out to the family,” he said as he shook hands with officers outside the house.
