TUMI and luxury car maker McLaren are co-launching a premium capsule suitcase brand combining the best products of both companies. TUMI is well known to road warriors and frequent travelers for its premium and quality luggage and travel accessories.
This is a one-of-a-kind partnership between TUMI and a car brand. The McLaren Formula 1 racing team is a household name for auto enthusiasts around the world.
The nine-piece collection, available on the TUMI website, shows McLaren’s standard papaya accent hues. Each piece is made with CFX carbon fiber accents.
Rolling trolley bags are always popular with travelers, and this new collection has one ideally timed for graduation gifts or Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts.
The Aero International 4-Wheel Expandable Hard Shell Carry-On is made of Tegris, a durable and protective thermoplastic composite fabric used in racing car construction. There is also a molded fabric panel up front which is meant to mimic the design of a racing car.
Inside the Aero International 4-wheel expandable carry-on, users will find compression straps that prevent contents from shifting and wrinkling. The straps are designed like the six point racing harnesses found in racing cars.
Ideal for short trips or for everyday use, the Velocity backpack features a USB port for integrated charging and a padded laptop compartment. Other pieces include the Torque Sling, Orbit Small Packing Cube, and the Trace expandable organizer.
This is not the first automotive partnership for TUMI, which had brand collaborations with MINI Cooper and Ducati in 2011. Beyond automotive partnerships, TUMI has co-branded products with sports personalities and names from fashion, including Russell Westbrook, Anna Sui and KITH.
According to TUMI, this new range of travel luggage is inspired by the durability and reliability that McLaren designers and drivers rely on not only for racing, but also for their commute.
McLaren Racing Commercial Director Mark Waller said of the collection: “We look forward to seeing our racing team use it around the world as we enter the 2021 Formula 1 season.”
Daily travelers can too, as the collection is now available for sale on the TUMI website.
