Manchester United are exploring the possibility of striking a massive midfielder swap deal this summer, while Kylian Mbappe has finally picked his next club – both in Friday’s UKTN.
SWAP OFFER ON CARDS FOR UNITED
Manchester United reportedly explore the possibility of a swap deal involving Declan rice and Jesse Lingard after “talks on the duty of England”.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has long been a fan of the 22-year-old Hammers star, who continued his meteoric rise to become the backbone of Gareth Southgate’s defensive midfielder.
Chelsea are also among a host of European giants eager to re-sign their old academy product, which David Moyes says will cost more than £ 100million.
However, the West Ham boss is keen to keep Rice – especially if his side qualify for next season’s Champions League.
But according to Athletic, United are ready to discuss a swap deal that will see Lingard move in the opposite direction.
The 28-year-old has been in sensational form since arriving at London Stadium on loan. He has been involved in a record nine goals since his debut, on par with Harry Kane.
Moyes is desperate to make Lingard’s loan transfer permanent, with latest reports suggesting that United will demand at least £ 30million for the player.
But the Red Devils could lower that figure by any price West Ham asks for their best man.
Rice, who is currently injured, is seen as a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Nemanja Matic at Old Trafford. His ability to play center-back as well makes him a double option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and a valuable commodity in today’s game.
